5 Useful Tips for Owners of Wireless Reversing Camera Systems

A wireless reversing camera is the perfect choice for vehicle owners who want to install a camera system in their car without having to deal with cables and wires. As compared to wired camera systems, the wireless ones are much easier to set up. It is easy to transfer to another vehicle, too. But just like any electronic device, there are things that must do and remember to prevent it from malfunctioning. Discussed below are some of them.

No 1: Always follow the user's manual during installation. Easy installation has always been one of the biggest reasons why vehicle owners love wireless cameras systems. All you have to do is hook the system up to your car's power source and you're done. You don't have to hire a professional installer, too. However, make sure that you thoroughly read and understand the instructions written on the user's manual prior to installation. This is to prevent short circuit and other accidents that can cause damage to both the device and your vehicle.

No 2: Do not twist or bend the camera's antenna. The wireless camera relies on its antenna to send to and receive signals from the monitor. If the antenna breaks, gets bent, or damaged, the signal and, therefore, the images being transmitted to the monitor might be affected. As such, you should never mess with the antenna to prevent distorted and blurry images.

No 3: Make sure that the camera is firmly secured to the back of your vehicle. Because the car reversing camera system doesn't have wires, it can be quite easy for the camera to fall off from your vehicle if it isn't secured properly. Therefore, tighten the screws of the camera as much as possible to prevent them from coming loose and causing the camera to fall off.

No 4: Take care of the camera. The camera will be exposed to the elements, not to mention a huge amount of dust, debris, and soot. As a result, it will become dirty over time. To prevent corrosion and to ensure that accumulated dirt won't impede with the camera's view, take the time to clean the device after using your vehicle.

No 5: Call the seller for help. In case you're having serious problems with the wireless rear view camera, call the seller up for assistance, especially if the device is still covered by the warranty. Don't attempt to open up the camera or any of its parts and fix it on your own. Otherwise, it will void the warranty. The seller might know how to fix the camera system up without resorting to extreme measures.

Ambulances in Victoria Now Using a Reversing Camera

It seems that everyday car owners in Australia are not the only ones who are realising the value of having a reversing camera in their respective vehicles. Recent reports revealed that the paramedics in the state of Victoria are now equipping ambulances with camera technology. This is a clear indication that the use of such a life-saving gadget is now becoming widely accepted and popular in the country.

According to Ambulance Victoria, rear view cameras have already been installed in about 50 new ambulances across the state. This program is part of efforts to provide paramedics who are driving ambulances with a clearer view of the rear cabin. It was finally launched after testing the system in five ambulances in September last year. "This safety initiative has been undertaken at no additional cost following an extensive trial," said Elizabeth Punton, the organisation's operational logistics manager.

With the new reversing camera kits, Ambulance Victoria revealed that it was able to provide a much safer workplace for its paramedics.  It was also reported that the initiative is possibly the first time such a technology has been used to provide ambulance drivers with the opportunity to see the rear ambulance compartment when driving.

Paramedics were truly delighted with the development. Thanks to the camera technology, they can now breathe a sigh of relief because it will be much easier for them to manoeuvre their vehicles and help save people's lives. "Improved vision of the rear compartment of ambulances will improve security and aid communication between paramedics when patients are being treated and transported," added Punton.

With paramedics in Victoria recognising the value of installing rear view cameras in emergency vehicles such as ambulances, everyday car owners can certainly benefit from following their example. With the added safety provided by these electronic devices, it will definitely do you well to fit one to your car. Not only can it make getting in and out of tight parking spaces a no-brainer, it can help you avoid accidents as well.

So check out your favourite electronics and car accessories store and start looking for a reverse camera that would fit your vehicle. For a very small fraction of the cost of buying a new car, you can get your hands on a very useful electronic device that can help you save thousands of dollars and prevent trips to the emergency room in the future. So what are you waiting for? If you don't want to be a passenger of the Victorian ambulances mentioned above, it is certainly an excellent idea to install a camera in your vehicle.
