Death of 2-Year-Old Boy Underscores Importance of Having Car Reversing Camera

A tragic accident that occurred just south of Perth has underscored yet again how important it is for vehicle owners to have a car reversing camera. According to reports, a mother has accidentally run over and killed her two-year-old son in Maddington on Tuesday afternoon. The 31-year-old driver, who was meeting another woman, was reversing her car when the child ran into the path of her vehicle.
Police were immediately called into the scene. However, the boy died despite attempts by paramedics to save him. The boy was taken to Armadale Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries before even reaching the hospital.

Rob Scott, from Channel 7, told Radio 6PR that a witness claimed the mother was possibly meeting the boy's grandmother at a brickworks on Calvin Road in Maddington. "According to this witness, she heard a scream and a thud and her son was at the front of this brickworks chopping wood at the time and ran out the front and saw this little boy lying underneath the car," he said.

Shortly after the incident, the witness said a “UTE load of workers” have pulled over and started giving the little boy CPR. The witness’s son reportedly called for an ambulance while the workers continue to resuscitate the boy. Everything happened quickly, the witness added.

This latest incident adds another name to the growing list of young children who are seriously or fatally injured in driveway accidents. As such, if you have small children at home, it is very important that you install a reversing camera in your vehicle. A car or a truck reversing camera kit provides coverage for your vehicle’s blind spots, allowing you to see if there are objects or pedestrians around your car.

Being able to see what’s behind your car can go a long way towards ensuring not just the safety of your children, but those of other pedestrians as well. You can avoid hurting other people and the expenses, inconveniences, and legal liabilities that go along with it. Installing a caravan reverse camera system also helps improve the manoeuvrability of your vehicle.

If you want to ensure the safety of your children, be sure to install a reversing camera in your car if you haven’t done it already. Visit us at Elinz Electronics and choose from a wide range of top quality and affordable reversing camera rearview kit and accessories we currently have on offer.

RCA or 4 PIN Reversing Camera System? Take Your Pick

When it comes to reversing cameras, experts said it is very important that you choose quality cables and connections for your camera system. Because the wiring would be exposed to the elements along with the camera, it is essential that they don’t snap or get damaged easily. Otherwise, you could lose that vital connection between the camera and the monitor when you least expect it. So what type of camera system should you choose an RCA or a 4 PIN reversing camera system?

Cameras with RCA connection
1. Less expensive. If you’re on a tight budget, then the RCA type of camera is right for you. It is generally less expensive than the 4PIN type.

2. Not suitable for external connections. RCA type connectors are the same type of connectors found on most televisions and VCRs. However, RCA cables are not suitable for external connections because they are not waterproof. They should be protected from exposure to moisture at all times. Otherwise, they could get damaged or refuse to work. As such, make sure to get an RCA reversing camera only if you don’t have plans to drive your car during bad weather.

3. Useful for adding extra cameras. Although RCA cables cannot be exposed to wet conditions, one of their strengths is that they are great for internal connections. They can be quite useful for adding extra cameras, even those from other manufacturers, or for connecting other video and audio devices.

Cameras with 4PIN connection
1. No need to connect the camera to a power source. One of the best things about a reversing camera with a 4PIN connection is that it makes the installation process much easier. You don’t have to connect the camera to a power source. Just connect the camera to the monitor and the monitor will power up the camera on its own.

2. Very reliable. 4PIN cables have a locking mechanism that makes them very reliable. You don’t have to worry about them suddenly coming undone or unplugged when you’re travelling. This can be particularly useful when using a camera system with a trailer and tow vehicle combination.

3. Waterproof. 4PIN cables are waterproof, which makes the very dependable. They can be directly exposed to sun, rain, and moisture so using them for external connections won’t be a huge problem.

So, have you decided which car reversing camera kit is right for you? If you have, then head over to Elinz Electronics, where you can buy quality camera systems at very affordable prices.
